Sydney’s Ladies’ Premier League Badge Final was played out on Saturday.
Lane Cove entered their first Ladies Badge Team this year and the team competed in the Premier League Grade. The team – Sue Deller, Bernadette Brennan, Siobhan Campbell, Laura Wunderlich, Sue Woodward, Bojana Marinkov, Bree Calderwood, Lilly Logue – were placed at the top of the ladder after 10 rounds.
On Saturday they played the final against Kooroora 1. It was a closely fought match, with our ladies being up 3-1 at the half way point. Sue Deller pulled off an incredible ‘off your toes half-volley’ to secure a very important first set tie-break win in her first of two sets. Bernie and Siobhan were red hot against the experienced pairing of Melissa Anderson and Lex Dalley splitting their first two sets.
Siobhan and Bernie grabbed sets 5 and 6 securing the rubber and the finals. Well done ladies. A great team effort by everyone.
